get*set*go manual

getsetgo BOM for PCB
getsetgo BOM for hardware

Still in beta really, so I wouldn't encourage anyone to order parts until I release the initial parts list with the launch boards. The BOM is 'more correct' than the schematic if errors are found [edit: thanks, Ed!]. Get*set*go has been a name I've thrown around - if it seems stupid, let me know and suggest one. The name getsetgo pays some homage to the Japanese SE and DH triode revolution, but mainly refers to the super fast nature of the build & sound. In other words, this ain't a three year project like some SET builds. ;)

Rough Cost Estimate Less Shipping
- James 6115 Outputs from Euphonia $145
- PA774 Power Transformer from Triode Electronics $59
- 1.5H, 55 ohm DCR Choke $10
- diytube board $49
- PCB stuffin' parts $35
- Other hardware from Mouser $35
- Pair of Sovetk 6B4G $68
- NOS 6AX5GT $2
- 6SL7 $10
- Sockets $10
- Chassis $100 (the biggest flexible cost right now)

This rings up to $523.

Hey, you wouldn't want a 'Wrong Input', would you? ;)

Thanks - keep the bug catches coming!

What about the inrush current limiter? Which would be best, a CL50, CL80, or a CL90?

I'd feel a lot better with one in the circuit as my wall voltage runs around 124- 127 volts. :hothead:

Terry, did I ever send you any of those CL50s? Just use one of those - it'll be good enough. :)

Hi Steve,

$49 plus $3.85 Priority Shipping will get you one ASAP. Yellow_Light_Colorz_PDT_06

I've had a stack of boards sitting here for maybe a month and a half. Tom and I were doing tiny last minute tweaks - and I think the BOM is finished. Basically, the Sovtek 6B4Gs are a bit of a hot rodded 6B4G, so they prefer a hefty bias current. So I changed the cathode resistor networks from 1100 ohms to 900 ohms. The old stock 6B4Gs work about the same at this bias (and most importantly stay within legal limits for this old dog), while the Sovtek's linearity increases by 50%. Some basically the parts list/BOM gets changed at R15abc & R16abc with 71-CW2B-2.7K. I'll probably add a front cover to the manual and post one one eBay this weekend.

Interestingly, if you look at the various Simple 2A3 schematics, you can see the bias resistors lowered over the years. Probably due to the Sovteks, methinks.

Shannon,

I'm ready to order one. Let me know how to send the funds. PayPal is fine with me.

I already have the transformers and tubes. Just need a nice chassis.

Ed -

We have the design file for the top panel from Front Panel Express available if you have any interest in that. It can be easily modified to your taste. They run about $ 60 and take about 2 weeks.

I'd definitely be interested in that, just as it is. Looks good to go, as long as it is still fit-compatible with the new red board...

Hey Tom,

BTW - Nice looking herd of Darlings you've been producing! Or is it a gaggle? Or maybe a harem since they are Darlings. Yellow_Light_Colorz_PDT_12

I like the pre-made panel idea. What wood enclosure is that? I don't have wood working capability so it would have to be pre-made. I ordered a Wellbourne Labs chassis but never heard anything more from them - they didn't charge my card either. The order must not have been entered into their system.

Good job on this amp guys. It should be fun to listen to this one. I haven't heard a single ended amp in decades! I've been too busy enjoying the diytube P-P clones .

Also BTW and off topic just for all you hams - in case you haven't heard Elecraft announced the new K3 transceiver. Looks beautiful!

I figured, that with the Dayton Hamfest looming, the new goodies will be emerging from the ham radio toy stores Yellow_Light_Colorz_PDT_02

THe local "big" hamfest is this weekend, Friday and Saturday at teh Deerfield, NH fairgrounds. THere's always good tube and "dynaswill" pickings to be had, and even some real bargains, like the $20 Dynaco ST-35 one lucky person (not me) picked up.

I've done very well with "plinkers" there, as well as some of the local area sunday flea markets.

I am a novice at tube amp building but would not mind in tackling a project like this, I do own a 8w class "A" pp 2a3 amp and a 5w triode KT88 SE amp.

Just wondering if this could be used with 2a3's instead the 6b4g's using a Hammond 302AX power transformer with 2 x 2.5vct and also 6.3 vct windings but it has only a 300-0-300 vct 200ma instead of 330-0-330 vct 180ma of the dynaco clone.
