Does anyone have any experience with a Hickok 539B?
I went through the calibration process and all the readings were within specifications, I can’t test rectifier tubes without bending the meter needle. I just can’t see what’s wrong with the tester.

Doubble check the shunt pot , it may be open or the wipper not making contact

Mark I took a look at the shunt pot and found it a little erratic so I took it out and gave it a clean inside and now it’s good. I ran the Diode/Rectifier test again and on change, the needle jumps hard right (with no tube inserted) I also saw that when I turn the selector to position F (600) the needle wants to go hard left and when reversing the meter you can see that it travels as hard as the Diode/Rectifier test. I am stumped at what it can be, I have been trying to trace cables with the schematics but without cutting all the ties it is impossible. Plus I am afraid to do that in case I do more damage.

You most likely have an open wire wound resistor or an open winding on one of the transformers .

Go to ARF and ask on the test equiptment forum and ask about it there .

This is a pain the schematics and the resistor positions are all over the place. I'm going to file it in the "to hard basket" for now. And when I have time I will look at it or just get rid of it.
