Is anyone still selling (inexpensive) microphone preamp kits? Something like this would work:

Or the long defunct kit from High Efficiency Loudspeaker (HEL):

I see Parts Express has a Velleman K1803 kit. Is that my only option, short of breadboarding something myself?

I've decided to build the Eric Wallin preamp. It's well documented. I sketched it in LTspice and it appears it will work just fine. The parts are cheap and readily available. I like the nifty clipping indicator.

The perfboard construction seems a bit hackish. I'd like to use Jason Neal's PCB artwork. Being too stupid (or lazy? both?) to etch my own boards, I'm looking for quotes on professionally (?) etched boards. It's a small thing at less than four square inches. The one quote I've received so far is $4.60 for each board, plus a one time $6 setup fee and a $7 shipping fee.

By any slim chance, does anyone else want an etched board? They're nothing fancy (single sided, no through plating, 1 oz. copper) but I assume they'll work just fine.

Can anyone suggest a cheaper place to get small, one-off boards etched?
