My new toy, a Hickok 539B Tube Tester

Postby Sal Brisindi » Wed Dec 05, 2007 7:00 pm

For years I always wanted a Hickok 539B or 539C tube tester, why, who the heck knows as I have a collection of tube testers in my basement. Well anyway, today FedEx delivered my 539B. Interior is real nice, the case needs a good cleaning. Here is a photo of it in all its glory.

Regards,
Sal

Thanks Tom,
I don't need no stinking manual... Yellow_Light_Colorz_PDT_02 well actually I asked my buddies on the antiqueradios.com forum and someone emailed it to me.

It was not to hard to test the 6L6, just turn the knobs to what the chart shows and press the test button. I did take a look at the manual and now since the tester is in my hands I will read it cover to cover as there are many things you can do with this tester.

The 539 series was considered by Hickok to be its "tube analyzer", to be used more by R&D people than repair shops. It also carried a 1960s MSRP of around $600.00. Anybody bitching about the outrageous prices they're going for now should take that into account.
