Current Limiter on a Mark III / Poseidon

Postby EdStiles » Wed May 30, 2007 4:42 pm

Trying to get advice on an current limiter for Dyna Mk IIIs and Dyna Mk IVs. Looking over the other postings, I see that the ST-35 should use a CL-90, and the ST-70 a CL-80.

Should the MK IVs use as CL-90 and Mk IIIs use as CL-80? the fuse sizes match as I recall. Using 5AR4s and a 40/80/30/20 mfd in both, the MK III has an additional 60 mfd as well.

All comments welcome.....

Thanks,

Ed

Hi Ed,

If you pull up Mouser and enter "thermometrics" as a search word, then click "thermistor" , then filter 120V, you'll finally wind up with a current column and a resistance column. Click on whatever running current you want (usually ½ the fuse rating unless it's spec'd slo blo, which would make it around .7 the fuse value). If more than one value comes up, select the one with the highest cold:hot resistance ratio, unless the amp has solid state rectifiers. Go with the highest cold resistance, in that case.

BTW, entering "inrush current limiter" gets you nowhere.
