ST-35 Finished

Postby johnf » Tue Jun 26, 2012 8:02 am

Just finished the amp having bought the board and Trafomatic xformers 4 years ago. Top plate designed in Front Panel Designer and made in Germany. Walnut cabinet. GZ34 rectifier.
The amp worked straight off. I just need to run it in for a while.
I will post an image if someone will tell me how to do it.

Thanks to all who answered my questions.

I have put a couple onto Photobucket:

If anyone wants the Front Panel Designer Layout let me know. The PCB part is accurate so you could modify it for other layouts. It was done on the Mac version so I don't know if it will open on PC.
I have just been running the amp into Ariels. It is very quiet and sounds pretty good to me so far (fingers crossed)

That looks really slick! What did you use for tranny covers?

I like that cab design. Well done!

Fine wine comes in glass bottles, not plastic sacks. Therefore the finer electrons are also found in glass bottles.

Transformer covers

Postby johnf » Wed Jun 27, 2012 2:31 am

The transformers and choke are from Trafomatic in Serbia, thats how they come, potted in cans. You can see some of their amps on their website as well as reviews on 6moons.com. Not sure how much they charge these days but at the time (4-5 years ago) they were cheaper to spec than off the shelf imported Hammonds or e.g. Sowter.
If you are in England it can be difficult to source parts at good prices. I tend to buy stuff from Tubetown in Germany. Same with speakers, German and Dutch suppliers are the best in my view.
