Blue and Gold ST-35

Postby dustinsterk » Tue May 29, 2012 6:54 pm

This is my first build and I thought I would share. It sounds amazing and I could not be happier. Thanks for everyone that helped me along the way with my questions.

Constructed from the Hammond chassis and all the holes were drilled with Unibits purchased from Ebay. It took some time but I am sure glad I completed the project!

Thanks!

Very nice! The diytube ST-35 was my first non-kit amp, and mine is
playing here in the office right now. They sound great!

Thanks guys! It was my first tube build...I have done various other battery powered headphone amps but they were all solid state. I feel very accomplished with this one!

Maybe I will do another one soon..... :))

really nice build! I do enjoy the el84 tube, jamming to a PP ST35 build right now. I like that the on/off switch is green...a combination of blue and yellow.

Very neat and professional looking work. I think this is the first one I've seen built with all Edcor output transformers. I assume those are the CXPP25-MS-8K/23% with the XPWR005 power transformer?
"It's a different experience; the noise occlusion, crisp, clear sound, and defined powerful bass. Strong bass does not corrupt the higher frequencies, giving a very different overall feel of the sound, one that is, in my opinion, quite unique."

Thanks Ty.

I think Tom has built a few with all Edcors before

You are correct on the parts:
The power transformer is the XPWR005-120 ($43.21)
The other two are the CXPP25-MS-8K/23% ($56.52)

So far really nice for the price. The only downside is the wait time after you order...mine took about 6 weeks.

Consider Edcor a upper-middle-class dining.... affordable, but each dish is made one at a time (wine)

Cheers!

Fine wine comes in glass bottles, not plastic sacks. Therefore the finer electrons are also found in glass bottles.

Very nice build. I too have used the all Edcor compliment, twice. Hell, scary thought, I might have even been the first. http://www.diytube.com/phpBB2/viewtopic ... ght=#34472
