SCA-35 / PC-11 question

Postby corndog71 » Wed Feb 22, 2012 11:39 am

Is it possible to build a simple preamp using the PC-11, PA-774 and SCA-35 power supply?

I have an extra PA-774 and was just wondering if I could put it to use.

You could, but it would be a heck of a waste of a power transformer. Sort of like using a jet engine to power a go cart. I'd look for a more suitable aftermarket transformer for the job. Besides allowing the original power transformer to be put to better use, a smaller transformer powering the preamp would contribute less potential noise to the final product.
