European 230 volts power version of ST35

Postby Manuel » Fri Nov 26, 2004 2:25 am

Hello to all:

It does some weeks I bought the version "d" of the pcb diytube.com and I am meeting all the necessary components to manufacture my own tubes amplifier.

I intend to do the rectification also with tube, using the 5AR4. In concrete, I will use a sovtek.

The power transformer has the following secondarys :

300-0-300 volt, 200ma
5 volt, 3A
6,3 volt, 6A

It given that I find me in Europe, the tension that will have the primary they are 230 volts nominal. In these conditions, my question is:

What changes I should do at circuit with respect to the information of origin that came with the PCB and al plan recently published for tube rectification?

I suppose that I should change the fuse, the NTC and perhaps some resistance or condenser.

Anybody can help me with this matter?

Thanks and even soon,
Manuel

The line voltage only matters to the primary side of the power transformer.

Something like a Hammond 372JX should do the trick, no circuit mod necessary :)

Hi,

the NTC is on the primary side, so the question is correct. I'm also building a 230V version using the Hammond 370HX, but i'm still waiting for the compenents.
Shannon, can you help in this matter?

Hi Jochen,

I would guess a 10 ohm (or less), 5W (or 10W) cement resistor would work fine as a sub with 230VAC. The original CL90 should work fine, though the CL140 might be a better match. We're just looking for a little control for inrush of the caps.

Estimado Sr Manuel:

Me entiende?
