33ma vs 35ma bias

Postby barry robin » Wed Apr 13, 2011 4:46 pm

i just swapped out my driver tubes and when i checked my bias pots it seems that all the measurements are now at 33ma. it was suggested that i keep them there instead of running them at the standard 35ma. why? any advantage to this?

The sound quality difference between 33 and 35 mA won't be noticeable. And the slightly lower current will let your EL84s live a while longer.

If these are new unused tubes the current value will drift a small amount during the first few hours' operation.
