new member, Rev C Choke?

Postby fiftyfivefilms » Thu Dec 09, 2010 1:43 pm

Hi I new here and have taken the plunge to build a ST-35, I've been following the many posts and am excited about the build. Here is my question I received a Rev C board from Triode and have been assembling the parts from the updated parts list ( september 2010), I ordered a C-354 Choke can I use it with a Rev C board? I didn't realize the Rev D board was discontinued and seeing the choke in the many posted photos I ordered one. Can I eliminate R-35 and R-35 and install the choke?
Cheers,
Kirk

Hi Kirk - welcome to diytube!

Yep - you can replace the resistors with the choke.

Are you using a Triode chassis?

I've built a couple of them, pix at http://tmamps.com

Thanks for the speedy reply, Yes I'm using the Triode chassis... and I have been following many of your posts, they are informative and helpful and convinced me to do this build. I'm having the same difficulty with the spacers and the large 120uf caps from the BOM not fitting that others have experianced...I'm going to go with washers and see if I can knock off a few millimeters
....Just one final concern so if I do use the choke with the Rev C, can I still keep all four of the power supply caps at 120uf? in the rev D the C9 position is only 33uf.
Thanks,
Kirk

You're probably looking at the schematic/mods for use with a
tube rectifier for C-9. With diodes, the bigger capacitor is fine.
Tube rectifiers usually don't like more than about 40 MFD
across them.

You might want to shoot an email to Triode and let them know
they need to ship shorter spacers.

Let us know how it sounds!
