Shunt volume pot with the ST35?

Postby Norris » Thu Sep 30, 2004 3:02 pm

Hi everyone,

I am thinking about using a shunt volume control with the ST 35.
And I was wondering if anyone has used this type of control with their
ST 35 project with good results? I thought a 50 kohm PEC carbon tapper pot with a 100 kohm shunt resistor would be a good starting point, unless someone has a better value to use, or another suggestion instead?

Any and all input will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Norris,

Take a look at the goldpoint website : http://www.goldpt.com/diy.html. I'm using an ELMA stepped attenuator(as a passive preamp) with the 10k resistor values and it matches up with my ST35 very nicely.

I had originally planned to use a set of sweetest whispers from Bottlehead. They come with a few different shunt resistors.

Under $50 shipped is a good place to start experimenting.

I put the sweetest whipsers into my preamp project.
