JJ Tesla ECC832, Any good?

Postby Pyre » Wed Jun 03, 2009 6:46 am

Does anyone have any experience with using this tube in their ST-35?

I am rebuilding a SCA-35 for my office with ST-35 boards and replacing the phono section with a DAC. NOS 12DW7 are pretty crazy in price these days. I have never had any luck with JJ tubes in the past, their rectifiers are prone to flash over and I had a 50% failure rate on their EF86's. Has anyone had any luck with these? How do they sound?

Thanks!

A 12dw7 is like half a 12ax7 and half a 12au7 in the same tube.
Before I used a JJ 12dw7 I would try an NOS 12av7, 12at7 or a 12au7 and see if the slightly decresed gain caused a problem.
