How hot's to hot?

Postby maxdd » Sun Feb 15, 2009 9:47 am

Long time reader, first time poster here.
I finished my ST35 last week and have been listening to music, watcing movies, & enjoying it all week. I'm very impressed with it's power as most my other amps are SET's and all my DIY speakers have a sensativity >90dB/w. I barely have to turn the volume up more than 1/8 to get BIG sound with quiet background.

I'm using the Triode Electronics iron set w/'lil choke. Anyone else using this iron experiencing super-hot power transformers? My from-wall AC is anywhere from 119 to 121. Is there anything I should check or can change to cool things down a bit?

Thanks,
Max

Hot PA774 transformers seems to be normal on the St-35. If you search around the forum there are a few threads of people putting heat sinks and cooling fans on them.
These guys also had temperature woes like you:
