ST35 Tube rectifier C9 question

Postby 77seriesIII » Thu Nov 20, 2008 3:33 pm

So I'm building an ST35 with tube rectifier and I suddenly realize that I do not have a 33uf 450v cap for the C9 cap. Will a 22uf 450v work? I can go to a local store and get the right capacitors...maybe but I have a bunch of 22uf available that if consensus says should work, I'll use. If not off to the store.

thanks

A 22 uF cap should be fine. I'd rather go a little smaller than the suggested size, rather than larger. Your vacuum tube rectifier will thank you later.

What vacuum tube are you using for your rectifier?

Ty thanks, I thought it would be ok but to ask. To start I will be using a russian version of the 5u4g. I do have two gz37, old ones and some new gz34 (JJs). This will be my first PP and my first ST35. I heard so many good things on the EL84 tube that I wanted to give it a try so here I am!

thanks
