Rookie seeks help w/ST-35 build

Postby cliffpickle » Thu Sep 11, 2008 2:21 pm

I contacted Chad at Triode with a few questions re: testing
the completed unit. He has been exceptionally good help. However, he ran into a road block on this one: After completing initial feedback and adjusting bias, the voltages I read in comparison to the zero-signal chart are significantly different from those stated. At the present settings after biasing the tubes, not one voltage agrees with the chart.
Also, the 'logical layout' notes state that the signal ground floats. I currently have a ground strap run from the chassis to the J1-P6 (spare ground) as noted for testing. Should this be disconnected for normal operation of the amp to acheive a 'floating ground'per specs.,or is there another ground I'm not aware of? (Disconnecting the ground at J1-P6 has no effect on the readings in paragarph above.)
Thanks for any and all help!
Chuck

Tell us what voltages you are reading, and maybe someone here can explain...

If you are confident that you can do it safely, measure your AC line voltage when you take your other voltage readings off the chassis.
