rca inputs

On my SCA35 the rca inputs are a bit loose and corroded. I want to replace them but I can't find anything that would replace them perfectly. What could I do with commonly available rca jacks? Also it looks like the inputs are grounded at chassis right there, is it important to do this with new ones?

CChong, the guy who sells the power supply boards, used to sell
a pair of RCAs mounted on a small phenolic board that fit in the
same space. You could make something with two of the RCA jacks
that fit a 1/4" hole and aluminum or PCB material.

If they are grounded now, no reason they can't stay that way.

Is it possible to tighten RCA jacks with needle nose pliers? If so how would I go about it?

I guess you're talking about the little cheap Phenolic RCA jacks
on the ST-35 ? If you look at them closely, from the back, you'll see
that the center contact is made from a formed piece of metal,
and it has a split down the center. Bending the metal back
toward the center of the hole would tighten it up. I think the
best tool would be a very thin flat blade screwdriver from one
of those sets that comes in the blue box with the clear lid,
commonly called "Jewelers Screwdrivers" Try not to break the ceramic
insulator. You might also want to clean the inside of it.

Hi,

An alternative I have been doing with the phenolic mounted RCA jacks is to use chassis mount RCA's and place them on a 1/8" hardwood thin (found at wood stores catering to scroll saw hobbiests).

Here's how they turn out:

Fine wine comes in glass bottles, not plastic sacks. Therefore the finer electrons are also found in glass bottles.

It's strange, I tightened the connections and cleaned them but it still cuts out sometimes. I'm starting to think that the older rca plugs had larger posts than the ones today.
