anode voltage made smooth

Postby susomora » Wed Dec 19, 2007 6:40 am

Hi guys ,
Applying the principle of the thermistor used at the mains input, could we use a higher resistance thermistor right before each diode in the Power supply to feed the anodes in a smooth manner after the filaments have been heated up ? . I know this can be made in some other ways ( more complex of course ) , but this seem like an easy solution to me ...
Cheers

Just an unscuientific, wild guess on my part, how well would an ICL of the appropriate resistance and cyurrent rating perform, if it was connected between the power trannie secondary CT and ground?

An alternate scheme I have seen is to insert a 10 ohm, 5watt, WW resistor between the HV secondary "hot" leads and each of the SS rectifiers' anodes, to act as an electrical equivalent of a shock absorber.

I've used a similar scheme, in conjunction with a couple of ceramic disc caps, as a reverse recovery spike filter in lower voltage and current PSUs, in phono and line stages.
